The Digital Quilt
Keeping with the destination theme, the expanded brand utilizes an iconography system to help tell Birmingham Bound’s story. Icons are a visual vocabulary that anyone from any culture, any country, and any walk of life can understand. They add meaning to content that may otherwise be misunderstood, and they help users navigate and absorb information more efficiently.
The graphic iconography pattern for Birmingham Bound brings a communal activity into a new era: quilting. Traditionally, quilts were pieces of fabric sewn together in an ornamental pattern to form a blanket, coverlet, or wall decoration. They were commonly created in a communal effort, bringing together members of a community to tell a story. By piecing together different icons, arrows, and patterns, this digital quilt offers a variety of ways to tell the story of Birmingham Bound, the Birmingham innovation ecosystem, or the community itself.

Bound For Campaign
Because Birmingham Bound made an appearance at SXSW, we created a series of ad-like objects for attendees to generate awareness of Birmingham and the tech opportunities the city holds. The "Bound For" campaign creates an open-end opportunity to focus the ad the recruit's respective goals, helping the campaign feel personal. By showing different stats, Birmingham Bound highlights the value they bring to whatever the recruit wants to be "bound for.” It also emphasizes the journey or destination of the recruit while familiarizing people with the Birmingham Bound brand.
